Instead of <strong>With<\/strong><b>close the door, leave the gate open<\/b> \u2013 and that for up to a year, and in the case of companies even longer. It has provided three paths that allow you to keep the system in a safe state until October 13, 2026, without the need for immediate migration. What&#039;s more, one of them is completely free, and another requires only a few clicks \u2013 these are options created with ordinary users in mind, not just large corporations. Below I explain each of them.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"218\" data-end=\"269\"><span style=\"color: #ff6500; font-size: 20px; text-align: start;\">Windows 10 support extension<\/span><\/h3><p data-start=\"270\" data-end=\"346\">Home users can benefit from free security updates for another year (until October 13, 2026), provided they activate <strong data-start=\"144\" data-end=\"162\"><a href=\"https:\/\/prosteit.pl\/en\/it-services\/back-up\/server-backup-for-companies\/\">Windows Backup<\/a><\/strong>, which syncs settings and folders with OneDrive. A simplified introduction to ESU will be made possible by a new wizard available in Windows Settings from July\/August 2025.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"348\" data-end=\"386\"><span style=\"color: #ff6500; font-size: 20px; text-align: start;\">Paid or Point ESU Options<\/span><\/h3><p data-start=\"387\" data-end=\"424\">Alternatively, users can obtain ESU via:<\/p><ul data-start=\"425\" data-end=\"587\"><li data-start=\"425\" data-end=\"466\"><p data-start=\"427\" data-end=\"466\">\u2022 purchase of a license for approximately <strong data-start=\"24\" data-end=\"34\">$30<\/strong>,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"467\" data-end=\"587\"><p data-start=\"469\" data-end=\"587\">\u2022 exchange <strong data-start=\"8\" data-end=\"43\">1,000 points <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/pl-pl\/rewards\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft Rewards<\/a><\/strong>.<br data-start=\"506\" data-end=\"509\" \/>Companies, on the other hand, can extend support up to <strong data-start=\"50\" data-end=\"64\">three years<\/strong>, starting at $61 per year per device.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><h3 data-start=\"594\" data-end=\"620\"><span style=\"color: #ff6500; font-size: 24px; text-align: start;\">Windows 10 End of Support \u2013 What Does That Exactly Mean?<\/span><\/h2><p data-start=\"57\" data-end=\"94\">IN <strong data-start=\"2\" data-end=\"31\">on October 14, 2025<\/strong> Microsoft will end standard support for Windows 10 \u2013 meaning the system will no longer receive:<\/p><ul data-start=\"96\" data-end=\"254\"><li data-start=\"96\" data-end=\"135\"><p data-start=\"98\" data-end=\"135\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"29\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">\u2022\u00a0<\/span>Security updates<\/strong> (including critical and important patches),<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"136\" data-end=\"175\"><p data-start=\"138\" data-end=\"175\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"49\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">\u2022\u00a0<\/span>Non-security bug fixes<\/strong>,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"176\" data-end=\"254\"><p data-start=\"178\" data-end=\"254\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"47\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">\u2022\u00a0<\/span>Technical support and user assistance<\/strong><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"256\" data-end=\"293\">This does not mean, however, that Windows 10 computers will stop working immediately - after this date, the OS will continue to function, but it will be:<\/p><ol data-start=\"295\" data-end=\"417\"><li data-start=\"295\" data-end=\"337\"><p data-start=\"298\" data-end=\"337\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"31\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Vulnerable to new threats<\/strong>, because there will be no security patches,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"338\" data-end=\"417\"><p data-start=\"341\" data-end=\"417\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"56\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Not compliant with compliance regulations and recommendations<\/strong> in business, e.g. GDPR, PCI-DSS, industry standards.<\/p><\/li><\/ol><h3 data-start=\"424\" data-end=\"465\"><span style=\"color: #ff6500; font-size: 20px; text-align: start;\">No updates = more risk<\/span><\/h3><p data-start=\"467\" data-end=\"545\">While the system still works, with each new security flaw, Windows 10 becomes an increasingly insecure platform. Over time, devices can become vulnerable to malware, ransomware, and even network protocol vulnerabilities.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"552\" data-end=\"601\"><span style=\"color: #ff6500; font-size: 20px; text-align: start;\">For whom are these changes most important?<\/span><\/h3><p data-start=\"603\" data-end=\"639\"><strong data-start=\"603\" data-end=\"637\">Home\/Pro users:<\/strong><\/p><ul data-start=\"640\" data-end=\"725\"><li data-start=\"640\" data-end=\"683\"><p data-start=\"642\" data-end=\"683\">\u2022 They will lose access to new patches and fixes,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"684\" data-end=\"725\"><p data-start=\"686\" data-end=\"725\">\u2022 They can continue to use the system, but at their own risk.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"727\" data-end=\"762\"><strong data-start=\"727\" data-end=\"760\">Companies (Enterprise\/Education):<\/strong><\/p><ul data-start=\"763\" data-end=\"889\"><li data-start=\"763\" data-end=\"806\"><p data-start=\"765\" data-end=\"806\">\u2022 Lack of support will have formal consequences \u2013 loss of compliance with regulations, certifications,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"807\" data-end=\"889\"><p data-start=\"809\" data-end=\"889\">\u2022 They should use alternatives such as <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/whats-new\/extended-security-updates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESU<\/a> or migration \u2013 especially considering security requirements<\/p><\/li><\/ul><h3 style=\"color: #151718;\" data-start=\"348\" data-end=\"386\"><span style=\"color: #ff6500; font-size: 20px; text-align: start;\">Summary<\/span><\/h3><p data-start=\"1115\" data-end=\"1349\"><em data-start=\"1117\" data-end=\"1156\">\u2022 This is not a system blocking<\/em> -Windows 10 still works,<br data-start=\"1183\" data-end=\"1186\" \/><em data-start=\"1188\" data-end=\"1228\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">\u2022\u00a0<\/span>Does not apply to all Microsoft services<\/em> \u2013 Defender and MS 365 will continue to be updated,<br data-start=\"1274\" data-end=\"1277\" \/><em data-start=\"1279\" data-end=\"1310\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">\u2022\u00a0<\/span>This is a signal to make a decision<\/em> \u2013 are you migrating or using ESU?<\/p><p data-start=\"1115\" data-end=\"1349\">Users will still receive\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 600; transition: 0.3s;\" data-start=\"28\" data-end=\"67\">Defender intelligence updates<\/span>\u00a0(until 2028) and updates to the Microsoft 365 suite, even without ESU.<\/p><p data-start=\"1115\" data-end=\"1349\">This is a good time to establish a strategy: <strong data-start=\"1717\" data-end=\"1729\">migration<\/strong> Whether <strong data-start=\"1734\" data-end=\"1759\">extension of support<\/strong>? font-size: 20px; text-align: start;\">Microsoft Rewards Points Support<\/span><\/h3><ul data-start=\"458\" data-end=\"576\"><li data-start=\"458\" data-end=\"536\"><p data-start=\"460\" data-end=\"536\">\u2022 You can also pick up ESU <em data-start=\"27\" data-end=\"37\">for free<\/em> exchanging <strong data-start=\"50\" data-end=\"85\" data-is-last-node=\"\">1,000 Microsoft Rewards points.<\/strong><\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"537\" data-end=\"576\"><p data-start=\"539\" data-end=\"576\">\u2022 This is an alternative for users who want to avoid configuring cloud backup but actively use Microsoft programs.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><h3 data-start=\"583\" data-end=\"620\"><span style=\"color: #ff6500; font-size: 20px; text-align: start;\">ESU for companies (Enterprise\/Education)<\/span><\/h3><ul data-start=\"800\" data-end=\"1048\"><li data-start=\"800\" data-end=\"882\"><p data-start=\"802\" data-end=\"882\">\u2022 Companies and institutions can purchase ESU on <strong data-start=\"39\" data-end=\"61\">maximum 3 years<\/strong> after 14\/10\/2025, i.e. until 2028.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"883\" data-end=\"965\"><p data-start=\"885\" data-end=\"965\">\u2022 Cost starts from <strong data-start=\"21\" data-end=\"49\">$61 for one computer<\/strong> in the first year and doubles in subsequent years ($122 in year 2, $244 in year 3).<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"966\" data-end=\"1048\"><p data-start=\"968\" data-end=\"1048\">\u2022 Educational licenses offer much cheaper rates, e.g. $1 for the first year, $2 for the second, and $4 for the third.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><h3 data-start=\"1055\" data-end=\"1088\"><span style=\"color: #ff6500; font-size: 20px; text-align: start;\">How does it work in practice?<\/span><\/h3><ol data-start=\"1090\" data-end=\"1304\"><li data-start=\"1090\" data-end=\"1175\"><p data-start=\"1093\" data-end=\"1175\">From <strong data-start=\"3\" data-end=\"26\">July\/August 2025<\/strong> will appear in Windows Update <strong data-start=\"55\" data-end=\"70\">ESU creator<\/strong>, which will guide you step by step: choosing how to obtain ESU \u2192 logging in to your Microsoft account \u2192 activating ESU.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1176\" data-end=\"1220\"><p data-start=\"1179\" data-end=\"1220\">After selecting the option and correct configuration, the system will automatically download updates from Microsoft servers.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1221\" data-end=\"1304\"><p data-start=\"1224\" data-end=\"1304\">The ESU license is linked to your Microsoft account and can be activated on <strong data-start=\"78\" data-end=\"109\" data-is-last-node=\"\">maximum of 10 devices.<\/strong><\/p><\/li><\/ol><h3 data-start=\"1311\" data-end=\"1341\"><span style=\"color: #ff6500;
